THE RECORD IS IN LIGHTLY PLAYED, MINT(-) CONDITION AND DELIVERS BEAUTIFUL AUDIO
THE FIRST ISSUE TEXTURED SLEEVE "Printed by Robert Stace" IS ALSO IN MINT(-) CONDITION
AND LYRIC INNER IS MINT (never actually having housed the LP which is in a separate inner sleeve)
A BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL 1976 UK FIRST PRESSING OF A TREMENDOUS LP - A FINER UK FIRST PRESSING WOULD BE VERY HARD TO LOCATE INDEED - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
FIRST PRESS MATRIX: CDS 4005 A//2 T 1 34 / CDS 4005 B//2 T L24 (an extremely early matrix for this LP)
The album's title derives from two pieces: The "Wind" comes from "The House of the Four Winds", the title given by Hackett to a piece that later became the quiet bridge for "Eleventh Earl of Mar"; the "Wuthering" alludes to the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. The titles of tracks 7 and 8 are derived from the novel's closing sentence: "I lingered round them, under that benign sky: watched the moths fluttering among the heath and harebells, listened to the soft wind breathing through the grass, and wondered how any one could ever imagine unquiet slumbers for the sleepers in that quiet earth."
"Eleventh Earl of Mar" refers to the historical figure of John Erskine, 11th Earl of Mar by one reckoning.
"Wot Gorilla?" is a reference to touring drummer Chester Thompson being namechecked on "Florentine Pogen", a track on Frank Zappa's 1975 album One Size Fits All. Thompson performed drums on the track, the outro section of which features the repeated vocal phrase "Chester's gorilla"

LABELS: The 'Mad Hatter' labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT and have NO wear, NO writing and only a few faint light spindle traces. THIS COPY HAS CLEARLY SEEN VERY, VERY LIGHT PLAY ONLY
VINYL Visual: The vinyl has a DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN and the surfaces are completely UNMARKED. BEAUTIFUL VINYL
VINYL Audio: SUPERB - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY SHARP, RICH and WARM AUDIO. BEAUTIFUL LP. Plays throughout with NO scratches, skips or jumps, NO clicks/pops and NO surface noise (not even during its many quiet sections). Sounds absolutely STUNNING and plays to an extremely high standard with SUPERB AUDIO CLARITY, NO groove-wear and NO distortion (it has hardy been played). Must be graded MINT(-) for audio - PERFECT PLAYBACK and NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page)
VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND IN SUCH WONDERFUL CONDITION AS THE ALBUM HAS MANY DELICATE, QUIET PASSAGES SO OFTEN SPOILT WITH EXCESSIVE SURFACE NOISE OR 'CLICKING' AND EVEN MINT LOOKING COPIES CAN DISPLAY THESE PROBLEMS - BUT NOT HERE
SLEEVE: The 1st issue TEXTURED cover is also in SUPERB condition - CLEAN, BRIGHT and FACTORY-FRESH, practically AS-NEW
INNER SLEEVE: The inner is also in BEAUTIFUL condition. Again, AS-NEW with NO marks, NO wear and NO splits. It has never actually housed the LP which is in a separate plastic inner. BEAUTIFUL COPY
